Zinc & Zinc Alu, Sprays, Pastes, Combi Spray & Cold Galvanising Spray.

We manufacture a wide range of Zinc, Zinc Aluminium sprays & pastes... it can get very confusing.

Non of our products are a replacement for Hot Dipped Galvanising - they were developed to compliment and repair.

70-40, 70-41, 70-42, 70-43, 70-45, 70-46, 01-99, 01-05, 79-01, 79-06

What you need and what you can buy differs by your requirements and in some cases - the cost.

All of our Zincs contain granular Zinc - this makes all of our Zinc products Cathodic.

We can help to make sure you're doing it right and right first time.

We offer UK wide on site process and inspection services with daily rate fees. These fees will vary with your geographic location.  We will inspect and sign off on all repairs that meet with the specifications required.

Cathodic protection

There are various methods to prevent and control corrosion. This technique works by connecting the metal to be protected to a more easily corroded "sacrificial metal / coating". This sacrificial metal / coating corrodes preferentially (acting as the anode) while the more valuable metal object under consideration (acting as the cathode) remains protected.

Sacrificial Metal / coating

This is where we come in - our products are sacrificial. They are sacrificed over time. The time (sacrificial rate) varies with location, coating depth, the environment and the cathodic content of the product applied as protection.

The Galvanisers Association's website provides a Corrosion map click here

You can search by location / postcode. You will be able to calculate how much cathodic protection you need to prevent corrosion.

Cathodic Content

More pure Zinc in the product, the better the Cathodic protection? No - it's all about the Zinc content in the dry film.

BS EN ISO 3549 - Zinc Purity 99% - all of our products meet or exceed this standard.

BS EN ISO 1461 - Repairs to Hot Dipped Galvanising - 3 of our products meet or exceed this standard - 70-40, 70-45 & 01-99

Our very best Cathodic protection is provided by 70-40 and 70-45... both have over 93% Zinc in the dry film. These 2 products will dry to a mid - GREY colour and will need a Combination spray to finish if you require a match to HDG.

We also offer 2 Zinc base sprays - 70-46 & 79-06 - dark grey finish, 90% Zinc in the dry film with both requiring a top coat for a bright finish.

Combinations

All of our Aluminium sprays and Combination Aluminium with Zinc or Zinc with Aluminium sprays contain Aluminium flake.

Aluminium flake is cathodic but it is not sacrificial. It can be used in its pure form but is often combined with Zinc; single pack sacrificial cathodic protection.

Our very best Zinc cathodic combination sprays are 70-43 & 01-99. High Zinc content with Aluminium for a bright finish.

Point to note: 01-99. This was developed with the powder coating industry in mind. The product contains high temperature resins to help prevent the orange peel powder coating finish.

Zinc & Aluminium paste and spray - also referred to as Cold Galvanising spray (cold - because its not hot dipped).

Cold galvanising spray is not a replacement for Hot Dipped Galvanising.

The quality of these products vary considerably - many do contain Zinc @ BS EN ISO 3549, but in what quantity? All will contain Aluminium, but at what quantity?

Our Aluminium combination sprays & paste; 70-42, 70-41, 01-05, 79-01 all contain Zinc with Aluminium. These products will not offer the same cathodic protection when used in single pack form as our Zinc combination sprays. Again these were developed to use in single pack form.

Please DO, Please DON'T

70-42 is too good to use as a top coat on 70-40, 70-43 and 01-99 - use 01-05 or 79-01.

01-99, 70-43, 70-42, 70-41 do not need a top coat - these are single pack and it's  built in!

70-46 & 79-06 need a top coat - they are Zinc base coats.

70-40 Zinc Paste and 70-45 Zinc Spray are the best "canned Zincs" you can buy.

Please refer to the individual products for full specifications and their MSDS & TDS for full details.
